Prof. Cid. B. de Araújo - Physics Department - Universidade Federal de Pernambuco

Title: Random lasers - Excellent Platforms to Study Nanophotonics and Complex Systems

Graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Pernambuco-UFPE (1968), Master in Physics (1971) and Doctorate in Physics (1975) from PUC in Rio de Janeiro. He did postdoctoral studies at Harvard University (1976-1977) in the USA. Full Professor and Emeritus at UFPE and CNPq Level 1A Research Fellow. He is a Full Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and Pernambuco Academy of Sciences. Awarded the Galileo Galilei award granted by the International Commission for Optics and listed among the 100,000 most influential scientists in the world in a ranking published in the journal Plos Biology. Elected Fellow of the Optical Society of America and Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences. He is a Member of the National Order of Scientific Merit (Classes: Gran Cruz and Comendador). He works in the field of Physics, with an emphasis on Optical Properties of Solids, Nonlinear Optics, Photonics and nanostructured systems for applications in Nanophotonics and Plasmonics.


Daniel Jaque obtained his “Certificate in Physics” by the Sussex University (UK) in 1995. In 1999 he defended his Ph.D Thesis on laser crystals. After working on superconducting thin films in 2001 he incorporated Laser Spectroscopy group at UAM. Since 2001 till 2010 he worked on bistable optical systems and on micro/nano structuration of optical materials by ultrafast lasers. In 2010 he founded the NanoBIG group focused on the development of new nanostructured materials for bio-imaging and sensing. He has been distinguished invited professor at Heriot Watt University, Swinbourne University and Universidade Federal do Alagoas. He has been Associate editor of Optics Express, Optical Materials and Physica B.


Prof. Antonio Eduardo Martinelli - Eng. Materiais/Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte

Title: Materiais e Indústria 4.0: Eficiência Energética e Sustentabilidade3

Graduated in Physics from USP (1988), Master in Nuclear Technology from USP (1991) and Ph.D. in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering – McGill University (1996). He works in the Materials area, with an emphasis on ceramics, metal-ceramic interfaces, cements and composites. He has coordinated or participated in 40 industry-funded projects. He has published 155 articles in journals, 6 book chapters, 89 works in conference proceedings and 17 patent applications. He completed the orientation of 30 CI students, 58 masters, 44 doctors and 6 post-doctoral internships. Full Professor at the Department of Materials Engineering at UFRN. He is coordinator of the Human Resources Program PRH-ANP 32 in Nanotechnology and New Materials for the Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels Industry, associate editor of Revista Cerâmica, scientific director of SBPMat, coordinator of the Materials area at CAPES and full member of the Committee MCTI's Nanotechnology and New Materials Advisory.


Prof. Stefan Maier - LMU Munich Physics and Imperial College London

Title: Plasmonics and Meta-Optics for Photonics and Eenergy Conversion

Graduated in Physics from the Technical University of Munich (1999), Master in Applied Physics (2000) and Doctorate in Applied Physics (2003) from the California Institute of Technology-CALTECH. He did postdoctoral work at CALTECH (2003-2004). Visiting Professor at IMRE A*Star-Singapore (2009) and at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (2013-2014). He is currently a professor at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (since 2017) and Imperial College London (since 2007). He was awarded several awards, including the Sackler Prize in the Physical Sciences (Tel Aviv University), Fellow of the Institute of Physics, Paterson Medal of the Institute of Physics, Fellow of the Optical Society of America and Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award. Author of over 300 articles, in addition to the book “Plasmonics: Fundamentals and Applications”. He works in the field of Physics, with an emphasis on Fundamental and Applied Plasmonics, Nanophotonics and Metamaterials.


Dr. C.P.Naveira-Cotta is associate professor at Mech. Eng. Dept. at COPPE/UFRJ since 2011. Affiliated Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences-ABC (2015-2019). Affiliated Member of The World Academy of Sciences-TWAS (2021-2025). Elected member of the Scientific Council of the International Center for Heat and Mass Transfer-ICHMT since 2016, and Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Association of Mechanical Engineering-ABCM since 2017. Holds the competitive Research Productivity Grant - Level 1D, from the federal sponsoring agency CNPq. Published more than 157 papers, including 54 in international journals, 7 book chapters, more than 90 articles in refereed conferences and co-author of 3 books in international editorial companies. She has supervised 28 MSc thesis (19 completed, 9 in progress) and 11 DSc thesis (4 completed, 7 in progress). Research interests on Transport Phenomena in Micro and Nano-scales, mainly on microfluidics, inverse problems, hybrid methods, water desalination, heat transfer enhancement, thermal microsystems.


Graduated in Applied Chemistry from the State University of Bahia (1999), holds a Master's Degree in Physical Chemistry (2000) and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry (2005) from the Federal University of Bahia. She has 15 years of experience in Material Engineering at FORD, having co-authored 2 FORD Brazil patents. She was supervisor of FORD partnerships with science and technology institutes for 2 years, when she coordinated the MTI postgraduate program for FORD employees with SENAI-CIMATEC (2019) and currently coordinates the stricto sensu program with the same institution for 36 master's students and 10 PhD students from the company. She served on the advisory board of the ROTA2030 program representing ANFAVEA and served as an EMBRAPII consultant in the call 04/2020 of Rota2030. She is currently the Functional Safety Supervisor at FORD for the development of electro-electronic functionalities.


Bernardo Coutinho - Petrobras

Title: NMR Petrophysics

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the Fluminense Federal University (2002), a Master's (2004) and a Ph.D. (2009) in Physics from the same institution, post-doctorate in the Non-Extensive Statistical Mechanics group at the Brazilian Center for Physical Research. He is currently a geophysicist at Petrobras, acting as coordinator of the petrophysics laboratory using nuclear magnetic resonance at the Petrobrás Research and Development Center (Cenpes). He has experience in the field of Geosciences, with an emphasis on Applied Geophysics. His main current research topics are: physical properties of rocks, diffusion in porous media and nuclear magnetic resonance in porous media.


Prof. Albert Stevens Reyna Ocas - UACSA/UFRPE

Title: Nanomaterials and Optics... What are we doing at PPEngFis?

Graduated in Physics from the Universidad Nacional Del Callao (Lima/Perú 2010), Master in Physics (2012) and Doctorate in Physics (2017) from the Federal University of Pernambuco-UFPE. He realized his postdoctoral studies at UFPE between 2017-2018. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco-UFRPE, on the engineering campus, and at the Postgraduate Program in Physical Engineering at UFRPE. CNPq Level 2 Research Fellow. He works in the field of Physics and Nanomaterials, with an emphasis on Nonlinear Optics and Photonics, working mainly on the following topics: Nonlinear Spectroscopy, High Order Nonlinear Processes, Optical Solitons and Random Lasers.


PhD. in Biomedical Engineering and Application Specialist in Micro-Molecular Spectroscopy at Horiba Scientific

Comprehensive experience in Raman, Fluorescence, Infrared and other spectroscopy techniques. His background in biological and materials applications, including cancer cells, nanotubes, skin photo effects, upconversion nanoparticles, led to some awards, in special the national award in 2010 granted by CNPq. He developed a solid knowledge in optical spectroscopy instrumentation, enabling him to design experiments for organic and inorganic materials characterization, SERS analysis, skin penetration studies, in-vivo and ex-vivo experiments, and many more studies in collaboration.

Eliasibe Luis - SETUP Instruments4LABS

Title: Lasers Ultrarrápidos e suas Aplicações

Graduated in Physics from UFPE (2008), Masters (2011) and Doctorate (ongoing) in Physics with a focus on Semiconductor Materials. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Microelectronics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, with completion scheduled for 2022. He has experience in Physics, with an emphasis on Semiconductors, working mainly on the following subjects: Photodetector, pn junction, PhotoEffect side and Position-sensitive Photodetector . He is currently a sales manager at SETUP Instruments4Labs and a consultant in the area of applications and special projects.
